My August Favorites

4. September 2019

Hey everyone & Welcome back!

Hope you all enjoyed a lovely weekend! I am back with the second episode of my monthly favorites as we are already entering a new month again – time flies, doesn’t it?
Here´s a little review of the past month…

August 2019

This August has been a very happy month again! I started my month by launching my website, which is something I had been looking forward to for a very long time. This whole project of a ´re-design´ started at the beginning of April 2019, so it´s been a couple of months of keeping my patience. Moreover, the feedback from all of you has been overwhelming so far and I can only stress again how grateful I am for everyone reading and sharing my stories!
Another happy experience this August was that I got to see all my grandparents a lot. I am lucky enough to have 4 amazing grandparents, that I love spending time with!
Around mid-August, I went on my first spontaneous weekend getaway of the month and ended up in Hamburg with my best friend. If you haven´t seen or read it already, head on over to my latest travel post where I share all about my Hamburg getaway with you. We enjoyed some good company and lots of amazing food – Seriously, Jill´s Neapolitan Pizza is the best pizza I have ever had…
Now, when I say ´first spontaneous weekend getaway´, there should be another trip, right? And there was!!
I went to Palma de Mallorca for a couple of days to reunite with my two favourite amigas Mar and Alessa. During my stay in Copenhagen, I met both of them at uni, as we were all Erasmus students and we instantly became really close friends. Mar lives in Palma, so when she invited us to visit her for a couple of days, we obviously could not say no! So there we were, happy to finally be reunited and spending the most amazing time exploring Mallorca with our favourite local. More on this trip is coming your way soon in a separate blog post…
Lastly, as my summer holiday came to an end, it was time to face reality again and move back to Den Haag. Luckily, my mum came along to help me and we got to enjoy some quality ´mum and daughter time´ in one of our favourite cities. I am super excited to be back in this beautiful city and curious to see what living with a roomie is going to be like!

Smiled

My happiest moment of this month was definitely when I reunited with my friends in Palma. After spending such an exciting 5 months together in Copenhagen and sharing lots of beautiful memories with each other, we all had to go separate ways for a while. During that time, we were trying to figure out all kinds of options on when to see each other again – Making plans when you´re all busy living your separate lives can be very hard sometimes, but we managed anyway!
I spent 5 incredible days in Mallorca with my girls, exploring the island, having lots of catch-ups and eating the most incredible Spanish food that was so kindly cooked by Mar´s stepdad!

Here are a couple of snapshots from our time in Mallorca – It´s best to just let the pictures speak for themselves I guess…

Learned

Something I have learned this month is a bit of a fun fact about myself. I just returned to my home in the Netherlands, so I took a moment to think about the exciting time that has just passed… As I thought about all the different places I have visited or even called my home along the way, I realized, that I am the happiest and most content version of myself when I live somewhere close to the water. I cannot explain to you exactly why that seems to be a fact about me, however, living somewhere close to the ocean seems to have quite an impact on my mental space. Even though it might sound a little, well, melodramatic, going for a long walk along the water somewhere while staring into basically nothing is the most relaxing thing I can imagine – For me personally, better than any meditation or yoga class you could ever visit.

Cooked

Every single one of you that knows me a little better, will know that a big part of my life has always revolved around cooking! I love educating myself about food a lot and the whole art of cooking is something that has followed me along my journey in life, as my mom used to be a chef.
Being a student on sort of a budget and sometimes having little time to prepare extravagant dishes, I love cooking things that are super simple, yet delicious. So this month, I have re-discovered my love for Burrata – I am severely obsessed at the moment! The creamy texture of it is just incredible and you can process it in so many different ways. On vacation, I even had Burrata paired with a salad made of juicy orange filets – Out of this world, trust me!
My favourite and probably the most popular way to eat it though is on a Crostini with tomatoes, basil, some good olive oil and balsamic cream. I bet most of you won´t really need a recipe for this as the picture already gives it away.
All you basically need is a couple of thinly sliced bread that you toast until it is nice and crunchy, a couple of finely chopped tomatoes, burrata and a good drizzle of both olive oil and balsamic cream. Oh – and of course, salt and pepper are essential!

Wore

My favourite piece of clothing that I wore this month is a white, flowy dress by the brand Envii. I know, you must think that I have some sort of obsession with white dresses for summer and I have to admit – You´re right! There´s just nothing better than a good selection of white dresses to make up your summer wardrobe, as they´re so versatile to style. You can pair it with some chunky sneakers and statement socks to add some contrast or style it with some beautiful jewellery, a colourful jacket and flats.

Loved

For last months favourites, I shared a couple of my favourite beauty and skincare items with you, which many of you really seemed to enjoy! So I am back with more recommendations from my side. Over the past few weeks, I had quite some troubles with my skin and could not really figure out the reason for. Thanks to the following two skincare products, that time has passed and my skin feels more clean and hydrated as ever!

La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Legere

The La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Legere is a facial moisturizer that I have been introduced to by no other than my dad actually! It has more of a gel texture to it and is by far the most hydrating moisturizer I have ever put on my face. You literally apply this moisturizer to your face and within seconds it sinks in, leaving your skin looking the most healthy and glowing version of itself.
Highly recommend this one to you if you have any skin inconveniences, but still feel like you need to moisturize your face.

Shiseido Benefiance – Extra Creamy Cleansing Foam

The Shiseido Benefiance is an incredible facial cleansing foam, that I use every night before going to bed. It has an extremely creamy texture with little pieces of scrub in it – So you can really feel how your face is cleaned which I enjoy a lot!
Also really recommend this product to any of you that are still on the hunt for the perfect facial cleanser that actually makes a difference.

And that´s it for my August favorites – I really hope you enjoyed reading as always!

Lots of love,

Anna
