Happy New Year!

9. January 2020

Hey everyone & Happy New Year!

I hope you are all doing very well and had a lovely start to this new decade!
You might be wondering where I´ve been hiding the past couple of months, why I haven´t been uploading, etc. I have received questions of all sorts, so today I´m back online to answer all of them!

Digital Detox

In a whirlwind of studying for exams, searching for internships, executing decisions that are most definitely going to influence my future career and traveling from one place to another, I decided to take some time off of blogging. Any fellow creative minds out there will know the feeling of being a little bit stuck, maybe even overwhelmed by our own minds sometimes. Taking some time off definitely felt like the right thing to do, as I did not want to produce content that I wasn’t 100% excited about. Plus, I needed some time to… well… figure things out, I´d say.

Okay – Enough with the justification now! I am happy, recharged and ready to share more exciting things with you – Should we start with a little retrospect of 2019?

2019

2019 has been a crazy rollercoaster ride – Lately, I have been thinking about this past year a lot and I don´t know how to put all my experiences into words to do this year justice. I´ll try though…

I began 2019 by moving to Copenhagen – A place I had heard incredible things about and seen amazing pictures of, however, I´d never been there myself. What started off being quite testing for me; as I was further away from home than I had ever been, did not know a single person nor the city I was now living in; turned out to be the greatest adventure of my life so far! I got to witness how complete strangers turn into family, how an unknown place becomes your home and as a bonus, I got the chance to explore another corner of our beautiful planet. The first half of 2019 was marked by partying till sunlight hit our eyes again, homecooked dinners with my “Copenhagen family”, traveling through Scandinavia with my long-distance bestie, having my family visit, a thing called “The Train Game” (that I absolutely hated) and many more adventures. Overall, I was enjoying life to the fullest!

2019 has not been all fun and easy for me though. Halfway through my exchange semester, I broke up with my boyfriend of five years – Definitely something I hadn’t seen coming my way. For a while, I sort of hit rock bottom, as the person I used to share everything with had suddenly disappeared from my life. It took a lot of self-reflection and healing to get over it, but it was for sure one of the biggest lessons of 2019 and I am eternally grateful for that one! Letting go of that person taught me a lot about myself and opened up so many new doors – Even though it´s been a tough experience, I wouldn’t want to change anything if I could!
There is yet to be another blog post about cutting ties with certain people in your life – All I am trying to say is that even though something might not be easy and comfortable in the beginning, doesn´t mean it will impact your life in a negative way. In fact, it can transform your life into a healthier and better version than before.

Moving further along 2019, it was time for me to say goodbye to Copenhagen – A time that I´ll never take for granted and will most certainly never forget! Time for new adventures that were waiting right around the corner…

I spent most of 2019´s summer traveling to different places. I visited Italy to celebrate my birthday with family and friends, flew to Mallorca to reunite with two of my best friends that I met in Copenhagen, visited my bestie in Dresden for her birthday, took a day-trip to Prague (another city I´d never been to but had been on my bucket list for a while), spent a weekend in Hamburg where I ate the most amazing pizza of my life and finally… I moved back to The Hague – My long-lost home!

For quite a while, my friend and I had been discussing how fun it would be to move in together for our last semester in The Hague. What seemed impossible in the beginning, as it was rather difficult to find an apartment that catered all our needs, it worked out anyways – We found our dream apartment!
Moving in together was an exciting experience, another thing that I had never done before, but it turned out great! We spent most of our time cycling to the beach, enjoying home-cooked dinners (by me, mostly), having a glass of wine on our cozy little balcony and of course having some unnecessary arguments – to be completely honestWe´re girls.

At the end of the day, even the most fun times can only last for so long and just like that, our last semester in The Hague ended. To say farewell to the Netherlands, my roomie and I celebrated New Year’s Eve in our apartment surrounded by good company, food, and wine.

And with the blink of an eye, the new decade has started! 2019 has been a year filled with exciting memories. I have lived through the highest highs and the lowest lows this year, but what is surprising, is that I can only remember the positive sides of 2019- In fact, it´s been my favorite year, as far as I can remember!

Some of my favorite memories captured in images…

I´m on the brink of starting yet another exciting journey of my life – Work-life, which means moving again. Stay tuned to find out where exactly, life is going to take me next!

Thank you guys for sticking with me! I hope you enjoyed reading as always and are just as excited for new content coming your way soon.

Cheers to 2020 – Let´s make it an even more memorable one!

Lots of love,

Anna
