The Ultimate Revival Trip

23. July 2021

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back!

Where do I even begin? It´s been a while since I last posted anything on my platform and a lot has happened ever since. 2021 has been a whirlwind so far – I finally (believe it or not) graduated from university. *imaginary round of applause*. Got a job and am working full-time now. *more applause*. And moved into a permanent home, which is another “first” for me. *cheerio*.

2021 also entailed another lap around the sun – I turned 23 years old just about a month ago. An exciting occasion that had an even more exciting present install for me. My best friend gifted me a “Revival Trip” to The Hague. Now if you´ve been tagging along with me for a while you might remember that I actually used to live in The Hague for about 3 years to study. It´s been my first “home away from home” and also, the place where I met my best friend. Adding a little “We both graduated from university in The Hague, but didn´t get that whole Graduation experience due to Covid” to the mix and here we are… 2 overly excited girls on the road to The Hague. A memory I really wanted to share with you – Hope you enjoy!

Day 1 – Throwback Feels

The road trip started off with the amazing event of a bird shitting right on my nose – great. Got back into my apartment, changed & we were finally ready to leave town.
As we arrived in beautiful The Hague, the first thing we had to do of course was to hit that Ohana Poke for Lunch. It´s the best place for Poke Bowls that I have ever tried and the main reason I got into eating bowls in the first place. Satisfied and filled to the max we continued to stroll around the city to check out all of our favorite corners of the city. Except for a few additions to the Shopping Area, nothing had honestly changes – still the freaking fabulous city that I moved to in 2016. Throwing in a little Guilty Passion Smoothie at The Smoothie Company and we shortly headed back for check-in at the Airbnb.
Our gorgeous little place was located in the Zeeheldenkwartier, my old neighborhood that I still love and treasure a lot. We had a short break, got changed and then headed off for some sunset drinks and truffle pizza (delish) at the Beachclub Zuid.

Day 2 – Shopping Spree

On our second day, we wanted to try Café Coco for breakfast, as we had heard great things about it. On the inside, it is very over the top on the decor if you ask me, but the food is delicious. We enjoyed some coffee and melted cheese panini for breakfast – ´cause that´s how we roll. We´re in the Netherlands after all!
Afterwards we had our eyes on some shops around the city center – Classic De Bijenkorf mixed with a bunch of cute individual Concept Stores that we love is the perfect mix to make us happy. We also ended up at a Jewelry Store Opening and must have been that dressed up that we got in without any invitation. Oh well, cannot complain.. got some lovely free drinks and food, again.
Still not finished on the eating of course, it was time for fries at THE. BEST. PLACE. To any fellow fries addicts – heaven is a place on earth called the Frites Atelier. Once founded by a 5 star chef, they have the most delicious and crunchy fries with an outstanding selection of sauces to go with it. When in the Netherlands, it is a place you do not want to miss.
The day continued with a delicious Aperol Spritz at Palmette – From my expertise, definitely the best Aperol in town – and, the purchase of a lovely knitted jumper by Baum & Pferdgarten. We then headed back to the Airbnb to relax and have a pre-dinner shower.
For dinner, we booked a table at De Sushimeisjes. Was a first for me, but definitely not a last. The Sushi was delicious and even offered a broad selection for any vegan or vegetarians like me.
Drinks at Milù – The perfect end to Day 2.

Day 3 – Beach Fun

Day 3 came way too fast. Overall mood: never not hungry & very sad to be leaving this place. Pushing through though.
We first headed off for breakfast – of course “headed” means taking the scooter, again – at Walter Benedict. Absolutely love this place. It´s a recommendation for all of my fellow Eggs Benedict Lovers. The coffee and juice at this place were approved as well.
Getting ready for the rest of the day, we purchased some new books, threw on some appropriate beachwear and then went nuts in the sun. I really enjoyed just having some time off at the beach – sunbathing, discussing life, reading a great book and even having a little dip in the ocean.
Later on, we had some lunch at Beachclub Zuid again & it was almost time to head back to Cologne… BUT OF COURSE, we could not leave without 1. another load of Ohana Poke Bowl for goodness sake and 2. a detour to the famous Albert Heijn (cheese and white bread, yes please).

Hope you enjoyed reading & stay tuned for some more content coming your way soon!

Lots of love,

Anna
